"Lovely summery shimmering lo-fi soul with feet in both the contemporary and heritage camps. Particulalry go for the lo-slung funker that is "We Are One" (The Craig Charles Funk And Soul Show, BBC 6Music)
"These two south London soul architects follow up their acclaimed debut with a plethora of guest vocalists. Brim full of clever, tricky writing framed around our everyday society with humor, multigenre influences, a touch of JBs funk but above all, S O U L!" (Raggy – Off Limits Radio London)
A really deep album with a great array of accomplished vocalists and stylish production. Perfect Sunday music.“ (Justin Wilkes, Kiss FM London)
It’s over a year since South London’s production team JetTricks debut album ‘Remote Control’ was released to great critical acclaim and Paul Elliott and Jamie Lawrence have been busy in the studio diligently recording their follow up “All One Word”.
Not to be content with their signature infectious grooves and hooks, they collaborated with a host of singers and musicians including Detroit’s soul man Marcus Malone, UK songstress Andrea Britton, the ballistic Hammond of Stephen ‘Lord’ Large and ‘Noisettes’ guitar wizard Dan Smith. With JetTricks, diversity is the order of the day and their creative spontaneity results in a journey through soul classics of the future to heavy dance floor fillers, uplifting new soul/pop to zen hip hop and laid back acoustic atmospheres. Their love of all music is evident and remains the core of their belief that different genres can lay side by side on the same record, and boundaries are just there to be crossed.
When writing, recording and producing “All One Word”, JetTricks were not afraid to evolve and branch out in these different directions, crafting with their collaborators a song based, bold, more commercial record that fully retains their musical integrity, whilst signalling a creative leap forward that could merely hint at their future possibilities.
Enjoy.
Marcus Malone - Since the late 70's the now London based Detroit blues man Marcus Malone has been rocking stages the world over, gigging, touring, releasing his own records and collaboration with producers including Shawn Lee. Marcus features on "We Are One", "Daddy Loves A Dancer" & "Slow Dance"
Afua - One of south London's finest new soul, r'n'b singer songwriters has a uniquely British slant on the commercial r'n'b sound. Afua features on "Clubcard Points" & "Two In The Bush"
Andrea Britton - The UK songstress, who is the voice of many Ibiza/chart cross over dance hits and also the front woman for the Lord Large Live band. Andrea Britton features on "Miles & Miles" & "Essential Love"
I Am Sam - London born and bred, but now living in Sydney, Australia. I am Sam was back in London to co-write and record his debut album with JetTricks and heard Adefunke's spoken word for 'Love So Simple' and had to lay down some vocals.
Adefunke - Following her collaboration with JetTricks for the full length album 'Remote Control' London's spoken word artist Adefunke returns with I Am Sam on the track 'Love So Simple'
Faye Houston - Another JetTricks favorite - Faye returns with stand out track 'Reason To Be' & the first ever JetTricks cover - A stripped down version of Lalipuna's 'nin-com-pop. Faye has been busy touring with Brighton based reggae band The Resonators and will follow up her work with JetTricks with a new collaboration later this year.
Dylpostino - Dylpostino is one of a kind, Originally from San Francisco, he has spent the past 6 years globe-trotting teaching Yoga, rapping and spreading good vibes. He combines conscious lyrics and old skool flow. A 5 track E.P collaboration between Dylpostino and JetTricks will arrive later this year. Dylpostino features on "Practice".
Dan Smith - Chart topper and lead guitarist from the band the Noisettes has been a friend of JetTricks for many years and laid down his exceptional skills that elevated the tracks "We Are One" and "Slow Dance" even further than once thought!
Stephen Large - The hammond wizard, one half of the band Lord Large, keyboard player for Squeeze. There is little to say about Stephen as his playing speaks for itself... Amazing! Stephen Large features on "Miles & Miles" & "Daddy Loves A Dancer"
