Timax have been a bit of a mystery over the years. Their tracks appeared on a spectacular amonut of compilations since they unleashed their first track “Flight Over Rio” in 2003, although they never had an album released on their own.
The mystery will now be solved. Timax are Pete Rivera (of Rivera Rotation fame) and Rob Hardt (producer extraordinaire of Cool Million, Seductive Souls and many other up-to-date soul sounds). For their debut album “Cote D’Azur” they collected all their previous productions like “Funky Brasilia”, “Golightly’s Funky Party “ or “Backyard BBQ Jam” and added a bunch of fresh & spicy tracks.
Check “Cote D’Azur Theme” or “Mrs. Tweedman’s Psycodelic Mind”. Here you have two guys who travelled the world, love global rhythms and enjoy a generally relaxed attitude towards the hectic schedule of the modern day music scene. “Ramsey’s Groove” sets the scene perfectly: A grown-up beat, aware of its history in Sixties soul-jazz, stripped down to the basic ingredients and still rocking like nothing else.
“Cote D’Azur” also includes “Flight Over Rio”, which Pete Rivera originally recorded with Elmar Schubert. Four tracks on the album are as yet unreleased.
